Types of Knauf plasters and their features. Gypsum plaster HP start Plaster machine plural start knauf

Dry building mixes are used not only by professional builders, but also by those who rarely pick up a spatula. Stucco start is often used for processing residential premises, hospitals and other buildings with normal humidity.

The universal Knauf start mix is designed for plastering walls. Buildings where this product can be used must have normal humidity, the walls of kitchens and bathrooms in living quarters can also be treated with the mentioned building material.

Knauf xp start gypsum plaster is incredibly convenient to use, it is necessary to level the walls before they are finished manually. It consists of gypsum, polymer additives and special fillers. After preparation for work, the dry mixture has an elastic structure, it can be applied in 1 layer at a thickness of 1-2 cm. The hp start mixture is not harmful to the skin, does not cause irritation, because created from environmentally friendly natural materials.

The advantages of the product include wear resistance, optimal drying times, in addition, this composition is able to regulate the temperature and humidity conditions in the room. The gypsum composition start can be used after dilution for 40 minutes. The cost of the gypsum mix start nr is 2 times less than traditional sand-cement plaster.

The described product is endowed with water-holding ability, the composition does not exfoliate on the walls, does not dehydrate on porous, highly moisture-absorbing surfaces.

Preparation of surfaces for work and preparation of the mixture

Walls that can be treated with this mixture should consist of concrete, brick, gas blocks, they can be plastered with cement or gypsum. Any base must first be cleaned of dirt and dust, to eliminate obvious irregularities on them. Walls made of concrete, brick and other materials are pre-treated with a primer, which is designed for the corresponding material.

The gypsum compound is diluted with cold water; 18 kg of liquid is required per 30 kg of dry plaster. The finished composition for starting surface treatment should not contain lumps, impurities. You can work with the solution at a temperature not lower than + 5º. The minimum layer of starting plaster can be 3-5 mm, the maximum 30 mm. In the event that the layer of the composition is expected to exceed 15 mm, it should be applied twice. The time for the start plaster to fully dry out with a layer thickness of 10 mm is 5-7 days.

Dry plaster mix "Knauf MN Start" based on a gypsum binder with polymer additives is intended for machine plastering of walls inside rooms with normal humidity, including kitchens and bathrooms (SNiP II-3-79 *).

Knauf dry mixes are in demand among professional finishers and those who first picked up a spatula. This article provides an overview of the range of finished gypsum and cement mixtures of this company. Data on the technologies for their use are presented.

Universal recommendations. The surface temperature must meet Knauf requirements, usually from 5 ° C and above. The base must be dry, free from flaking materials, dust or dirt. To do this, hard brushes pass along the entire wall, the protruding parts of the masonry mortar are knocked down with a hammer.

  Gypsum compounds

Mixtures, a significant percentage of which is gypsum, are widely used in interior decoration of residential premises. This is one of the most convenient options. However, you yourself can draw a conclusion by reading. When using Knauf products, the surface after plastering is ready for further finishing a week later.

Almost all formulations that are labeled “for machine application” can be used for manual work. But on the contrary - in no case! This can lead to the breakdown of expensive equipment with all the ensuing consequences.

Preliminary work

  1. Primer application. It is possible to increase the adhesive properties of the base plane by pre-priming it. For walls made of various materials, their approaches. So, walls made of cellular concrete and brick (materials that strongly absorb water) are primed with Grundirmitel (consumption 0.1-0.15 kg / m2) or Grund (consumption 0.4 kg / m2), which dry for about 6 hours. This is done so that water from the plaster is not absorbed into the wall, which prevents its premature and uneven setting. As for concrete surfaces or walls insulated with EPS, they are coated with Concrete Contact primer (consumption 0.3 kg / m2), which provides better adhesion to such smooth substrates. The coating dries in about a day.
  2. Wall marking and installation of lighthouses. Lighthouses are installed at a distance of no more than the length of the existing rule, attached to the solution or with dowels. If you are dealing with a relatively flat base plane, you can do without beacons, for example, when plastering a wall of blocks or bricks.
  3. Installation of corner profiles. To obtain the correct angles, the plaster is applied to the fastening part of the profile with a step of 20-40 cm, after which the element is mounted in the plane indicated by the beacons. After hardening the solution, you can proceed to the main stage of work.
  The color of mixtures from different batches of the same brand may differ, for example, the color palette may vary between gray and white, and sometimes capture pinkish shades. This does not affect the performance of the prepared Knauf plaster.

  Rotband

Many know the mixture of Knauf Rothband. The video below shows the compositional features and the procedure for working with it. You can find more information about this plaster and how to work with it here.

  Goldband

Knauf Goldband dry mix is suitable for interior decoration, regardless of the material of the walls. The main requirement is application in normal humidity. We outline the main points of the technology of using the mixture:

  1. Kneading solution. About 18 liters of cold tap water per 30 kg of dry mixture are poured into the prepared container. First, several trowels of the mixture fall asleep, the composition is mixed until a homogeneous liquid mass is obtained. Only after that pour out the rest of the plaster, mix everything with a mixer. If necessary, the consistency of the solution is adjusted by adding water or a Goldband mixture.
  2. Application The viability of the solution is no more than 25 minutes - during this time it needs to be applied in time to the prepared surface. When decorating load-bearing walls from blocks or a warmed base, the plaster layer is reinforced with a mesh. If it is necessary to apply a thick layer of mortar, then this is done in two stages: first, apply the first, wait a week for it to dry, then apply a primer, after it dries, a second layer of plaster follows. The solution is evenly distributed as a rule according to the level of the beacons.
  3. Leveling the resulting surface. An hour after the preparation of the solution, its excess is cut off with the cutter rule. By this time, Knauf Goldband should grapple.
  4. Mashing the plane. After 15 minutes for the subsequent painting of the wall, the surface is moistened with water and after the milk is isolated, it is rubbed with a sponge grater in circular motions. The purpose of this operation is to smooth out irregularities from previous operations as much as possible.
  5. Smoothing down. At the finishing stage, when the liquid from mashing is absorbed into the material, the wall is smoothed with a smoothing iron.

In the video below, a comparison of Knauf products with one of Volm's dry mixes. How objective the verdict is for you to judge.

This must be taken into account when using all Knauf gypsum plasters:
  - so that the applied plaster dries faster, it is necessary to ensure normal ventilation of the room to be finished. In order to intensify the process, the use of heating devices is not allowed - the finish may crack due to too rapid evaporation of moisture;
  - if in the future it is planned to finish with decorative plaster, then the leveled base is additionally primed. In our case, the use of primers Tifengrund is relevant;
  - the water used for the preparation of the solution must be clean, its optimal temperature is in the range of 5-30 ° C. Colder water negatively affects mixing, exceeding the temperature bar affects the increase in the rate of evaporation of the liquid from the solution - the appearance of cracks in the plaster layer;
  - After completing the planned daily amount of work, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the containers, tools and equipment from the solution. Otherwise, a serious decrease in the pot life of the sealed mixtures is possible.

  HP Start

Another version of Knauf plaster - HP Start, designed for manual application on the inner surfaces of the walls of residential premises (conditions: normal humidity and temperature in the range of 16-30 ° C). The contents of a 25 kg bag of the mixture are closed with approximately 14 liters of water, previously collected in a 50 liter container. The viability of the plaster solution does not exceed 40 minutes - during this time it is necessary to go through all the stages relevant to the Goldband mixture.

Almost the same, as well as the visualization of the technology of using the HP Start mixture, is shown in the video below.

  MP 75 and MN Start

These types of plasters are positioned as mixtures for machine application. They are often used in large volumes of work by specialized companies. In a few words, we describe the technology of working with Knauf MN Start and MP 75:

  1. Preparation of the plaster station. This stage is carried out in accordance with the recommendations for a specific model of the station for mechanized application of plaster, which you could read about in this article. A mixture of MP 75 or MN Start is poured into a special hopper, after which the flow rate for mixing the mixture is adjusted in order to obtain the material of the desired viscosity.
  2. Application of the solution. About 0.3 m from the surface, holding the gun in a position perpendicular to the base, the solution is applied from top to bottom. The thickness of the layer varies due to the speed of movement of the gun.
      Alignment, mashing and smoothing is carried out in the same vein as when working with the Goldband brand.

Remember that machine plaster does not tolerate mortar immobility. In the case of materials from Knauf we are talking about 15 minutes - more than this time you can not pause, because station may fail.

In the video below, we will talk about one of the most popular compositions for mechanized plastering - MP 75.

  Cement mixture

Dry cement-based mixtures are used where hydrophobic properties, resistance to the mechanical effects of the hardened coating and the possibility of mixing a large batch of mortar are put in the first place. In the latter case, the viability of the solution reaches 1.5-2 hours - this time is enough to finish a large area.

When conducting external finishing work, care must be taken to ensure that the applied composition is not exposed to direct sunlight, precipitation, strong wind. In some cases, this affects the excessively rapid evaporation of moisture from the solution, in others - overmoistening of the coating. All this negatively affects the durability of the plaster layer.

Depending on the nature of the wall material, there are two approaches to pre-treatment:

  • coating with a primer compound Quartzgrund or Isogrund, diluted with water 2 times - for walls of cellular concrete (absorbing moisture);
  • sprayed with adhesive Adhesive with pre-saturation of the walls with water - to increase adhesion to smooth types of base

  Adhesive

The main purpose of this plaster mix from Knauf is to guarantee an increase in the adhesive properties of the base surface. Along with this, a change in the hygroscopicity of the wall material is achieved, which positively affects the hardening of the plaster layer. In most cases, performs the functions of a metal mesh, can be applied both manually and by machine.

Briefly about the work:
Mixing the mixture. 25 kg of the dry mixture shut about 5 liters of water, the components of the solution are thoroughly mixed.
  Application Hygroscopic surfaces are abundantly moisturized. Adhesive is sprayed with a 5 mm layer. Subsequent operations can be carried out after a day.

Knauf Universal Cement Plastering Technology:

  1. apply a layer of solution up to 15 mm thick, which is leveled with an h-shaped rule;
  2. after it sets, remove the excess mass with a trellised grater;
  3. if a thicker layer is needed, then it is already applied to the hardened surface of the first;
  4. weak spots of the base and angles additional reinforce mesh reinforcement. When applying a layer of plaster with a thickness of 30 mm or more, the use of a metal mesh is recommended;
  5. subsequent work is carried out only after complete hardening of the solution, usually from three to four days to two weeks (depending on thickness and temperature and humidity conditions)

  Grunband

Grunband is a cement dry mix, the solution of which, when applied to the walls, provides them with additional heat-shielding properties. It can be used both for exterior and interior decoration, regardless of the wall material and method of application.

Below is a short video on the composition of Grunband and its application.

  Unterputz

If you are faced with the task of leveling the walls, which will subsequently be exposed to high humidity, then for these tasks it is worth using the Unterputts mixture. Like other cement compounds, Knauf can be applied by machine or manually. To knead 25 kg of the mixture, approximately 5 liters of water will be required. All other work is carried out according to the universal technology given above.

What is the mix at work, you can watch the video below. It does not take a lot of time.

  Sockelputz

For walls that may be subject to mechanical stress, it is necessary to use high-strength plaster - such as Knauf Sockelputz. Preliminary and all subsequent work is carried out according to universal rules that are relevant when using dry cement mixtures. One 25 kg bag closes about 5 liters of water.

  Sevener

Knauf Sevener - the company's advanced development, a dry mixture endowed with several qualities at once: high adhesion to any substrates, hydrophobic properties, guarantee of protection against cracking. It can be used as glue when insulating the facade with insulation plates, for repairing old plastered surfaces and as a regular leveling plaster. Suitable for both machine and manual application.

  To avoid cracking, after applying the solution, the plaster mesh is recessed into it

The technology of use, depending on the goals:

  • Like adhesive for thermal insulation. The Sevener solution is applied to the insulation pointwise - in the middle part, with a strip of width and thickness 5 and 2 cm, respectively - around the perimeter. After two days, the plates are considered glued.
  • As a plaster for insulation. A solution of 5 mm thickness is applied to the surface. It is convenient to do this using a toothed trowel with a tooth size of 10 × 10 cm. A fiberglass mesh with a mesh of 5 × 5 mm is recessed into the layer, the resulting plane is leveled and left for a week until completely dry.
  • Plastering concrete and brick substrates. Work is carried out according to the universal rules for cement mortars.

  Diamond

Of the entire list of plasters described in our review, only Diamond belongs to the category of decorative structural plasters for manual and machine application. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that, along with decorative properties, it is resistant to adverse conditions - suitable for interior and exterior decoration. Mixing 25 mixes requires approximately 7 L of water. After the first stirring, the mixture is kept for a quarter of an hour, and then repeated stirring follows. Depending on what material was used to level the base, the wall is additionally primed with the following compounds: GKL or concrete wall with Putzgrund, gypsum mortar with Quartzgrund, cement plaster as in the previous case or Isogrund. In all cases, the primer should dry for at least 24 hours.
